Shanthanu was born and brought up in Chennai,Tamil Nadu. He graduated from Sishya School in Economics. Later he also studied at Loyola College, Chennai. He made his debut as lead romantic comedy actor. He is also known as Shanthanu Bhagyaraj.

Apart from acting he loves traveling and dancing. He is active in his social life. He has mentioned he regrets missing out on a few good movies. Currently, his career is slowly improving with vital roles starting from Vijay’s Master.

Career

Shanthanu started his career as child artist in his father’s film in 1998. Next he worked as assistant director to his father in his sister project Parijatham (2006). He did his lead role in Skkarakatti in 2008. Unfortunately it turned out to be a box office failure. Despite that he received many awards including Filmfare awards.

In 2009 he did Malayalam movie Angel John starring alongside Mohanlal. He played the lead role in Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga which was a tribute to his father. He won positive reviews for it. He is set to star in the upcoming movie Masters.
