Miss Universe is an international beauty contest run by the American based Miss Universe Organization. It is the world’s largest live TV coverage contest, broadcasted annually in more than 190 countries. The estimated audience of the show is 2.5 billion people globally. Together with Miss World, Miss International and Miss Earth, Miss Universe joins the league of World’s Top 4 international beauty pageants. Miss Universe Organization as a brand currently belongs to the talent agency IMG, a subsidiary of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment.
The Miss Universe 2019 edition has the first representation of Bangladesh and Equatorial Guinea. This year also marks the return of Lithuania, Romania, Sierra Leone and Tanzania. Greece withdrew after its official delegate, Erika Kolani due to technical reasons. Lebanon withdrew after the Miss Lebanon 2019 competition was cancelled due to the Lebanese protests. Alina Sanko, Miss Russia 2019 also backed out due to overlapping dates.
The current Miss Universe is Catriona Gray of the Philippines who was crowned December 17, 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand. Miss Universe 2019 will be the 68th edition of the premium fashion pageant. It will be held December 8, 2019, at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Catriona Gray of the Philippines will crown her successor as the winner of 2019 emerges.
