Plus Points:

Vijay-Nayanthara combo looks very fresh and surely we will fall in love with their chemistry. There is some magic when both of them come together and Whistle gets elevated to the next level with their romance. They started from where they left off in Villu before 10 years.

Both the roles played by Vijay is worth the watch. Rayappan is amazing as Whistle aka Michael’s father. Emotional scenes between Rayappan and Micheal is heartwarming. role of Vijay looks Whistle will surely stay in our hearts for a very long time. Female football team members including Reba John did a great job in the provided space.

Jackie Shroff plays the grey shaded role well enough. Alike the movies like Mersal, Atlee succeeded in bringing a strong villain to stand opposite the dashing Vijay in different avatars. I M Vijayan does an amazing role in negative shade.

Funny moments of Vivek, Yogi Babu and Kathir spark laughter to lighten the intense moments.

Minus Points:

The film is so engaging and intriguing that, we almost forget a few minor flaws which can happen in any movie. Few scenes in the movie had extended emotional scenes and few seemed unwanted. Still, these minor points are forgivable provided the film has the depth and power to appeal to the masses.

Technical Aspects:

Music by Oscar winner AR Rahman is mind-blowing. Before the release of the movie, few songs were released and even the trailer had different types of BGM’s. Whistle emotionally connects well with the audience through the perfect music from AR Rahman. Singappenney and Verithanam were already among chartbusters, now the background scores are amazing.

Camera work by G K Vishnu is commendable fo giving the audience an amazing visual extravaganza. Each frame including the football matches, the fights, the songs everything was turned magical by his craft. Surely he is going to be the next big name in the industry.

Written and directed by Atlee, the guy never fails to entertain us and he repeats it yet again. Brilliant narrative, execution, thrills and twists in the tale have been well executed. Emotions have been worked well and Atlee deserves applause for holding it all together.

The Vijay-Atlee combo has once again won the task of satisfying the audience. With well handled emotional scenes, goosebumps and action scenes, Whistle is a thorough entertainer.
