Story:
Aadithya Arunachalam is assigned the task of cleaning the drug business in the city which is causing a huge amount of issues. He is someone who wants justice to prevail and at times creates his own justice by moving out of the law to serve justice. He enters into a fight with Hari Chopra (Suniel Shetty). During the process, Aadithya arrests Ajay Malhotra (Prateik Babbar) which makes Hari enter into the game. Cold-blooded drug lord then seeks revenge on Aadithya and his daughter Valli (Nivetha Thomas). How will Aadithya Arunachalam fight back and will he be able to complete his mission without losing his daughter? To know this, you have to watch the film in the theatres near you.
Plus Points:
Aadithya Arunachalam looks dashing with power-packed dialogues and fast-paced action scenes. Emotional and affectionate scenes between father and daughter are well blended to give the perfect feel to the audience. The rejuvenated version of Petta is what we get to see in Rajnikanth through Darbar. The romance between Aadithya and (Lily) Nayanthara looks very fresh and real as the age of the hero is actual to that of real life.
Minus:
Villain role played by Suniel Shetty is not up to the mark of the power as he is against Aadithya Arunachalam. There was a huge build-up for the role of Hari Chopra but, eventually, it didn’t standoff well as promised. With multiple attack scenes and a huge amount of bloodshed, lack of mixup scene between Aadithya Arunachalam and Hari Chopra creates a gap in the flow. In the climax too, it’s pretty easy for Aadithya Arunachalam to handle the villain and the gang.
Technical Aspects:
Camera work by Santosh Sivan is commendable, especially in the fight scenes. He has created an amazing visual experience to the brilliant storytelling from AR Murugadoss. Music by Anirudh Ravichander perfectly beefs up the entire setting and has gone to the next level from what he did in Petta. Edits of Sreekar Prasad is fabulous with brilliant cuts and well-crafted blocks throughout the movie.
Verdict:
Rajnikanth’s Darbar is a high voltage action thriller movie and surely a celebration for fans. With style, amazing storytelling and power-packed scenes, Darbar is one of the best police stories to have come in Tamil movies. The movie is worth watching with your gang and is a perfect movie to experience in theaters.
