Mammootty made a staggering impact 9 years ago with Pokkiri Raja and now he is back with Madhur Raja which is absolutely a feast for the fans. Pambinthuruth is tarnished by liquor baron Nadesham as he makes the island his venue of crimes and other illegal activities. Chinna Raja (Actor Jai) is sent to solve the issue but was not able to manage it completely and then comes the critical requirement of Madhura Raja.
Salim Kumar gives us the shades of Manoharan which he made absolutely lovely in Pokkiri Raja and also the introduction of Sunny Leone in Malayalam movie is marked through the film. The music of Gopi Sundar and the item dance turned out to be splendid. Mammotty’s entry is a bit delayed but that is worth the wait as, after he comes in the film paces up with high octane action scenes.
The second half has a political shade and even though Udayakrishna’s attempt is appreciable, that doesn’t match up even to the average political scenario witnessed in various films. In total, the film is a treat for Mammootty fans and his screen presence actually gives a negligible area for others to perform including Jai. The skills of Peter Hein has already been witnessed in various movies and Madhura Raja also gives us a lovely treat with the action scenes.
Madhuraja has every element of entertainment including action-packed scenes, Punch dialogues and a comedy ambience well crafted. Madhuraja eventually ends up with a hint for the sequel, ‘Minister Raja’ whereas he becomes a minister of the state. The film is worth a watch and would have been much better if the script was a bit more researched.
