Chiranjeevi lead movie was high on expectations and had to click at any cost. The historical action movie is directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan. The film has released today and will be released on 4000 screens worldwide. Let’s see how the film is.
Storyline :
Narasimha Reddy is the ruler of Uyyalawada and is a daring fighter. He falls in love with dancer Lakshmi (Tammannah) but due to situations marries Siddhamma (Nayanthara). He starts a revolt with other neighbor rulers, due to the evil deeds of East India Company. The main challenge was dealing with his own countrymen, who are up to spoil this revolt. Will Reddy be able to fight and flee East India Company from Uyyaawada? How it all started? Is the war of 1857 connected to this story? To know answers to these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.
Plus Points:
When it comes to making historical films, Telugu industry is brilliant. The title role is done by Chiranjeevi and he has been brilliant in emotional and action scenes. He is the biggest plus of the movie and is a total show of Chiranjeevi people love to see. Amitabh Bachchan does a great job in the role of adviser guru Gosayi Venkanna. It is a short role but has great depth with powerful dialogues and expressions from Big B.
Vijay Sethupathy plays the role of Raja Pandi and is the powerful presence in the film. Strong dialogue and powerful fights by him is worth the watch. Kiccha Sudeep plays the role of Avuku Raju and improves the feel with his presence. The role has depth and power to show the anger and valour of the fighter in him.
Tamannah looks amazing in the role of the dancer and is the perfect cast for the role. She is total grace to watch and shows great chemistry on screen with Chiranjeevi as his love. Nayanthara is gorgeous and has a strong role as the wife of Narasimha Reddy. Expressions and sharp looks justify her role as the queen. All the supporting roles have been so much amazing and add value to the movie.
The interval block and the fight scenes are the biggest highlights of the film. The intense fight scenes and combination scenes of Chiranjeevi and Kiccha Sudeep are excellent. The emotional and fights have been captured very well and DOP has to be credited well for it. The punch dialogues and fights give us goosebumps. Malayalam version is narrated by Mohanlal, Pawan Kalyan (Telugu) and Kamal Hassan (Tamil).
Minus Points :
The movie has a great cast but the storytelling has been a drawback of the movie. There are many scenes in the second half which have been dragged and seems unwanted. The reason to break the love relation between Tamannah and Chiranjeevi isn’t convincing. Few scenes totally take the focus out of the movie.
Length of the movie is too hard to accept and a good edit would have made the movie better. The music part of the movie is yet another issue due to its lyrics. Few odds scenes appear at times which surely needs to be deleted.
Technical Features :
Camerawork by R.Rathnavelu is just outstanding and perfectly captured the action sequences. Music by Julius Packiam is not impressive but BGM’s during fight scenes are great. Editing by A.Sreekar Prasad is just ok, but a better try would have made the film better. Dubbing of the movie has been very good and narrations by stars too have ben perfect.
Director Surender Reddy shot the thrills and fight scenes well. But the rest of his screenplay and narration were just ordinary. A better effort in storytelling and combined work would have made it better.
Final Verdict :
In total, Sye Ra Narasimha Reddy is a historical action thriller which works in parts. The historical angle, action thrills and superb performances by Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathy etc are the major plus. But the lengthy runtime and lazy storytelling with unwanted scenes drag the film behind. One time watch for all the power dialogues, fights and some goosebumps.
