Malayalam movie industry is also taking the route of the digital release. Tovino Thomas starrer Kilometers and Kilometers is all set to be released online as the permissions were given today. Earlier the association of movie producers and theater owners were against OTT release.
Kilometers and Kilometers cast has India Jarvis, Tovino Thomas, Joju George in the lead roles. It is written by Jeo Baby and Deepu Pradeep and directed by Jeo Baby. The rights of OTT release is acquired by Hotstar App and the satellite rights by Asianet channel. It is set in the backdrop of an American woman and a Kerala man who take on an adventurous journey.
The theater owners and producers associated had approved the release of the movie considering the piracy issues. Earlier there was news that the prints of the movie seem to be leaked online and the director took legal action against it. The association also reminded that this permission is given considering the piracy issues.
There are multiple other Malayalam movies planned for release in August but they are not permitted. Kilometers and Kilometers release date is 17 August 2020 and will stream exclusively on the Disney+ Hotstar App.
