The movie had created an ambience of giving a first superhero movie to the Malayalam industry but it actually gave us a family movie which has a superhero in it. Anson Paul does the perfect father role who has a lot of challenges from his family and is completely a hero for his son. Even though his studies don’t fair well but is well supported by the father and Dayyana Hameed plays a splendid role in the screen space she receives.
The challenges which keep happening creates a divide in the married life of the protagonist, but he stays positive and optimistic throughout. Dayyana Hameed’s screen presence in the songs and the sync with the hero seems enchanting. Tom Emmatty’s so-called superhero film ‘Gambler’ is nothing more than a set of heroic acts and should say the script has drawn the movie back a bit.
The Heroic
acts in ‘Gambler’ have been made and executed in a very different way,
but if the script was strong enough the movie would have pushed more
boundaries and if the treatment was bit better it would have been more
enjoyable. The Gambler is still a one time watch if you want to get a
glimpse of the hyped superhero and Anson- Dayyana duo performance.
