Malayalam movie industry has been quite lucky to get a handful of youth stars who rose to stardom quickly. Aishwarya Lekshmi tops the list with just 5 films to her name but has a greater position in the industry. Recently, the lucky star is moving to Tamil movies and has starred along with Dhanush and Vishal. She is also part of Prithviraj’s ‘Brother’s Day’ which is the directorial debut of Shajon.
Aishwarya Lekshmi opens up regarding her new movies and how the women-centric roles are well accepted by the audience.
“Vishal starrer Sundar C movie has just a few days of patch shoot left. It’s an action film, but my role is of a soft character. So, my portions are quite ‘peaceful’ and have shades of rom-com to them, with songs and dance sequences. I was quite nervous at the set initially as it was my Tamil debut. Got an audition call and went for it after Varathan’s shoot. Had to give a try for a few sequences which only had assistant directors. It was easy and the only thing they suggested was to wear a dull dress with no makeup”.
Numerous women-centric movies are coming up in all languages and Malayalee audiences have accepted all such roles and movies. So more and more such movies are rolling out with impressive script and space for performance. “I have a few interesting movies coming up, including some women-oriented projects. It is a good time in Mollywood for such films.
“Earlier Manju Warrier and Parvathy has been doing brilliant women-centric movies and have made it successful. Recently Rajisha has been the leading lady in few movies including June and upcoming movie ‘Finals’. Surely, now I hope people would come to watch mine, and every other female-centred movie if that has quality.”
