Black Widow is an upcoming American superhero movie based on the character from Marvel Comics. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the twenty-fourth film in the Marvel Cinematographic Universe (MCU).
The film is directed by Cate Shortland, written by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow, alongside David Harbor, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz.
Marvel and Johansson expressed interest in a solo film several times in the following years before Schaeffer and Shortland were hired in 2018. Benson joined and the cast was performed in early 2019. Filming took place from May to October in Norway, Budapest, Pinewood Studios, England, and Macon, Georgia. Black Widow will release on May 1, 2020.
